The Federation of the Sisters of Social Service was established in 1972. It is comprised of three autonomous branches: SSS of California, SSS of Canada, and our SSS branch, headquartered in Buffalo, NY and since 1998 in Budapest, Hungary.

The Californian branch has sisters ministering mainly on the West Coast of the United States as well as in Mexico, Taiwan, and in the Philippines.

The third branch is located in Canada with its center in Toronto and with sisters ministering both in the Eastern and Western parts of Canada.

We Sisters of Social Service are women of many cultures who come together to fulfill the Gospel call to care for the poor and alienated. The right of all people to live in dignity is at the heart of our work and of our religious faith.

The Sisters of Social Service Community is made up of vowed women and associate men and women who share our vision and our mission.

We, the Sisters of Social Service of Canada, are a Society of Apostolic Life, dedicated to the Holy Spirit and committed to our Sisters in community. We empower others, particularly women, in innovative ways to grow and develop to their full potential.

Our Benedictine way of being, such as hospitality, prayer, work and leisure, is the means of our life and mission. In our ministries, we collaborate with others in responding to the social and spiritual needs of the day.
